On Wednesday 15 January 2014, the Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Hon. Supra Mahumapelo, visited Reitshokile Combined School in Piet Plessis, as part of monitoring readiness of schools for the 2014 academic year.

Accompanied by the Mayor of Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality, Councillor Ontlametse Mochware and PR Councillor Chris Mothibi, Hon Mahumapelo encouraged among the more than 792 learners 16 matriculants to rise above the prevailing extremely poor socio-economic conditions and follow the footsteps of late former President Nelson Mandela.

Hon Mahumapelo requested the staff, learners, the school governing body, parents, community and the municipality to pull together towards a quality 100% pass rate in the current academic year. He further requested them to follow his philosophy of Saamtrek, pulling together towards rebranding their school and eventually rebranding the North West province.

Over and above donating shoes, socks, skirts, pants, jerseys and shirts to 10 of the 36 learners profiled as the neediest by the Department of Social Development, the Speaker committed tertiary bursaries for 2015 to the 16 matriculants.

The Speaker was informed by the school principal, Mr Thabo Monamodi, that the school community was satisfied with the delivery of books and stationery, the National School Nutrition Programme and the no-fee support from the Department of Education.
